Witnessed a tremendous thunderstorm... read more during the first night, safely tucked into bed with 180 degree view outside. Every night and morning there were impalas munching quietly around the hut, such a peaceful experience. For city dwellers: be aware the open design goes both ways. There are geckos rustling in the window drapes, they are cleaning the windows of flies while you sleep. There are small bats flying around at night, frogs greeting you while on the toilet (which has a beautiful view). Brushing your teeth during sunrise at the clever handwashing bucket with view over the park was wonderful. The absence of human-made noise feels like such a rare and priceless luxury. Please be aware, there are two huts a bit apart. Respect the silence and don't be a spoiler.

  The lovingly furnished house is a place where you can truly feel at home. The small front garden, due to its security walls, may take some getting used to for... read more Europeans, but it is a lovely spot for breakfast and has a Braai area that you can uses wood instead of charcoal if you like. You can feel throughout the entire house that a woman has put her touch into it. Everything is lovingly furnished. Once a day, a housekeeper comes to take care of the basics (tidying up, cleaning). You should not forget to give her a proper tip. If you don’t feel like going to a restaurant, the kitchen has everything you need for a dinner. We felt very comfortable and safe in your apartment. And when the monkeys stop by in the evening, it’s always a cheerful hello.

If you want to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine, you can do that all day, but if you’d like shade there is always a place to relax without getting sun-kissed.The attention to detail was lovely…from the soft ambient lighting dotted around, to the little hearts cut-outs in the toilet door, to the adequate amount of robe hooks around…every necessary & special detail has been considered. If I was to suggest any ‘improvements’ I would say a little plunge pool would be AMAZING and possibly a freestanding fan that can be moved around for those extra hot days but other than that…I would say it was absolute paradise 🫶🏼We will DEFINITELY visit again!

In the morning, a giraffe came right up to the house. What an amazing encounter. When we're back in the area, we'll definitely come back, and stay for more nights.

  Staying at the hut on poles was an absolutely incredible experience! It is truly one of the most peaceful, beautiful places we've ever been. The view across the trees down... read more towards the river is breath-taking and falling asleep watching the stars from the very comfortable bed only to wake up to a brilliant sunrise is a wonderful experience.The hut had everything we needed (and more), and Bernadette (and Niels and Martijn) were perfect hosts - good information (including the little 'guide book') and quick responses to any questions/issues. Though the main house and other hut are close by, it feels secluded, and even showering in the middle of the bush felt private!While we weren't visited by any animals up close, the drive to and from the hut was a game drive in itself and we were treated to giraffe, impala, zebra and more several times a day.We would highly recommend staying here, but you will need at least 3 nights to truly appreciate this little slice of heaven. We will be back!
